This technique has been used for centuries to relieve tension in overworked muscles, and to improve the quality of muscle tissue.
Sometimes we add electrical stimulation or e-stim, an electrical current transferred through the dry needle that can help accelerate the pain-relief process.
Myofascial Cupping
Myofascial cupping in podiatry is a technique used to treat various foot and lower extremity conditions. Cupping therapy is based on the principle of creating negative pressure (suction) over specific areas of the body, which can help release muscle tension, promote blood flow, and stimulate the healing process. It’s often used to address myofascial pain, trigger points, and muscle tightness.
Here’s a breakdown of patient information that might be relevant for myofascial cupping in podiatry:
- Plantar fasciitis:
- Achilles tendonitis
- Metatarsalgia:
- Morton’s neuroma:
- Ankle sprains/strains:
- Tight calf muscle
- General muscle tension:
