Plantar Warts (Verruca)
Plantar warts are growths on the soles of the feet caused by infection with the HPV virus. The virus enters through tiny cuts, breaks, or weak spots on the skin. These warts may appear alone or in clusters and are typically rough, raised, and have a grainy texture.
Treatment
Your Podiatrist will gently shave away the buildup of hard skin around the wart. They will apply Silver nitrate along with mild acid (salicylic acid) is coated topically onto the wart with soft padding around the area. This treatment often requires weekly treatments until settled.
When to see a Podiatrist
-
If the wart is painful or spreading.
-
If you’re unsure whether it’s a wart or another foot condition (like a corn or callus).
-
If you have diabetes or circulation issues, since foot lesions need extra care.
